Prince Jona Kuhio grew up on O'ahu . He was called the people's prince and served as a nonvoting congressman until his death in 1922. He was the first Hawaiian to be a state representative. He studied for college in California and britan.

Barack Obama was born in Honolulu on August 4, 1961. He moved to New York City for college. He worked in Chicago after college. He became president in 2008.

Tammy Yee, Author and Illustrator of Children's Books about Hawaii, grew up in Honolulu where she discovered animals and tide pools. She also wrote spooky stories which were read by teachers in her school. After graduation from college, she became a nurse. When she had children she became an illustrator and has been drawing ever since.
